Skill Development Training Programme CSIR-CIMAP is a national R&D Laboratory of having a unique research mandate on medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) for the industry and society. CIMAP is steering multidisciplinary high quality research in biological and chemical sciences and extending technologies and services to the farmers and entrepreneurs of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) with its research headquarter at Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Research Centres at Bangaloru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Telangana), Pantnagar and Purara (Uttarakhand). CSIR-CIMAP is equipping the nation with high-tech agriculture linked to industrial processing of MAPs. CIMAP is equipped with state-of-the-art multidisciplinary laboratory, National Gene Bank Repository, Manav Garden , ultra-modern instrumentation facilities and scientific expertise in agriculture, genetics and plant breeding, molecular taxonomy, molecular and structural biology, plant biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical sciences, apart from development of herbal products. About the Skill Development Training Programme The experimental farm has been engaged in providing services related to the unit operations like land preparations, sowing, harvesting and processing of various MAPs produced in the 25 hectares of land using indigenous and recently developed implements/ equipments. All these operations have been accomplishing in time during experiments in various seasons. The CSIR-CIMAP farm is maintaining the germplasm/varieties developed in CIMAP as well as other research institutes from past couple of decades. In addition to these, the wild germplasms of MAPs are also maintained in the farm. Further a huge number of accessions/varieties being maintained in the CSIR-CIMAP farm conservatories. In accordance with the implementation of various plans and programmes, CSIR-CIMAP works, as collected from published literature and websites, this article presents information on current activities in India in two important aspects of the field, namely, conservation of medicinal plants; and management of data generated from such studies.
